OLT is an optical line terminal, which is a terminal equipment of telecommunications and is usually directly connected to BRAS
Industrial grade ONU is an optical network unit, which can be connected to multiple ONUs through a splitter under one OLT. Industrial grade ONUs are placed in users' homes for Fiber to Home (FTTH), and in buildings for Light to Building (FTTB), etc.
There is no difference between industrial grade ONU and PON. ONU is a device, while PON is a technology or architecture.
OLT and ONU are both part of the PON architecture, and most broadcasting and television networks are connected using EPON+EOC. If FTTB+LAN or daoFTTH is used for connection, the cost incurred in the later stage is high, and the cost of renovation investment is also relatively high.
Firstly, BaiOLT is an optical line terminal, and industrial grade ONU is an optical network unit (ONU), both of which are optical transmission network connection devices. These are two essential modules in PON: PON (Passive Optical Network). PON (Passive Optical Network) refers to an optical distribution network that does not contain any electronic components or power supplies. ODN is entirely composed of passive components such as optical splitters, and does not require expensive active electronic equipment. A passive optical network includes an optical line terminal (OLT) installed at the central control station, and a batch of optical network units (ONUs) installed at the user's premises. The optical distribution network (ODN) between OLT and ONU includes optical fibers and passive splitters or couplers.
